Zahira Karate Club

Karate is an oriental system of unarmed combat using the hand and feet to deliver and block blows and is widely practiced as a sport. In this way, karate was started on 2014.02.20 in our college, under the guidance of our master in charge Mr. Z.M.M Zamny with about twenty students in the name of “Zahira Karate Club”. Fortunately, our college got a well-qualified master, Mr. Shehan Priyantha Perera (Black Belt 7th Dan) who is the present secretary of the Sri Lanka Karate Federation. And we had several field training sessions and indoor training sessions to improve the karate skills of our students.

Art Club

ஒரு மாணவனுடைய அறிவூ வளர்ச்சியில் சித்திர பாடம் பெரும் பங்காற்றுவது யாவரும் அறிந்த உண்மை. மாணவனது பாடசாலை வாழ்க்கையில் மட்டுமல்லாது அவனுடைய சமூக வாழ்க்கையிலும் அவனது மனப்பாங்கு பெரும் தாக்கத்தை ஏற்படுத்துகிறது. சித்திரபாடத்தை விரும்பும் திறமை கொண்ட மாணவன் எந்தத் துறையில் மிளிர்ந்தாலும் அவனது இரசனை விருத்தியே அவனை உயர் மட்டத்துக்கு இட்டுச் செல்கிறது. அவ்வகையில் மாணவனின் அறிவூஇ திறன்இ மனப்பாங்கில் மாற்றத்தை ஏற்படுத்தி அவனை சிறந்ததொரு பிரஜையாக நாட்டுக்கு வழங்குவதை நோக்காகக் கொண்டு அமைந்ததே எமது சித்திர கழகம் ஆகும்.சாஹிரா தாயின் அண்மைக்கால வரலாற்றில் தடம்பதித்த கழகங்களில் சுமார் எட்டு வருட ஆயூட்காலத்தை கொண்டு தனக்கென தனி இடத்தை பிடித்துக்கொண்ட கழகமாக சித்திரக் கழகத்தை சொன்னால் அது மிகையாகாது.2013ம் ஆண்டு நான்கு ஆசிரியர்களின் பங்களிப்புடனும் அர்ப்பணிப் உடனும் (Mrs. A. A. S. Nasliya, Mrs .M.T.F Zafeena, Mrs. A. Nerusha) சுமார் நூறுக்கும் மேற்பட்ட மாணவர்களை அங்கத்தவர்களாக கொண்டு ஸ்தாபிக்கப்பட்ட இக்கழகம் இன்றுவரை அதன் செயற்பாடுகளிலும் இசெயற்றிட்டங்களிலும் முன்னிலையில் உள்ளது. அதற்கான முக்கிய காரணமாக அங்கத்துவ ஆசிரியர்கள் இ மாணவர்களது அயராத முயற்சியூம் ஈடுபாடுமே காரணம் என்று கூறுவதே சரியாகும.

Aesthetic Club

2019ஆம் ஆண்டு இறுதிப்பகுதியில் உருவாக்கப்பட்ட எமது Aesthetic Club. 2020 ஆம் ஆண்டில் பல்வேறு நடவடிக்கைகளை மேற்கொள்வதற்கான திட்டமிடலை மேற்கொண்டிருந்தது.எனினும் 2020 ஆம் ஆண்டு மார்ச் மாதம் ஏற்பட்ட அசாதாரண சு+ழ்நிலையினால் எமது கழக நடவடிக்கைகளும் பாதிக்கப்பட்டன. இருப்பினும் நாம் 2020 ஆம் ஆண்டு நடைபெற்ற இல்ல விளையாட்டுப் போட்டியின் போது எமது கழகத்தை அறிமுகப் படுத்தும் முகமாக எமது கழக நிறத்திலான ஊதாநிற பட்டி அணிந்து உறுப்பினர்கள் ஊர்வலம் வந்தனர். பின் மார்ச் மாதம் கழக ஆடை அறிமுகம் இலட்சினை அறிமுகம் செய்யப்பட்டு 5ம் திகதி எமது கழகத்தினால் ‘கதம்பம்’ எனும் பல்சுவை நிகழ்ச்சி மிகச் சிறப்பாக அரங்கேற்றப்பட்டது.மாணவர்கள் எமது கழக ஆடை ஒழுங்குடன் பாடசாலைக்கு சமூகமளித்திருந்தனர் அதன்பின்னர் ஆன்லைன் விவாதப் போட்டியில் நவம்பர்இ டிசம்பர் மாதங்களில் பங்குபற்றிய மாணவர்கள் பல கட்டங்களில் தெரிவூ செய்யப்பட்டனர்.இவ்வாறு எமது கழக நடவடிக்கைகள் அசாதாரண சு+ழ்நிலையிலும் வெற்றி நடை போட்டது.2021 ஆம் ஆண்டு பல்வேறு திட்டமிடலுடன் எமது கலைக்கழகம் இன்னும் சிறப்புடன் முன்னேற திட்டமிடப்பட்டுள்ளது இடையூ+று இன்றி அவை நிறைவேற இறைவனை பிரார்த்திக்கிறௌம்.

The Media Club: the Students’ Media Forum

The Media Club of Zahira College Mawanella came into being in 2008 as a brainchild of then Principal Mr. Naeem Marrikkar. What initially appeared was the Media Unit of the College with teachers like MHM Nawas, ML Reeza, MRM Roshan, M Iqbal, Salha Umma, and Haseena. Later in the same year, students like MRM Akmal, MM Raashid, M Aashik, MJM Azman, and M Faik gave birth to the SMF – the Students Media Forum.

Now the SMF is the media club of the school. It is a dynamic, vibrant quality circle. It is aimed at introducing a media culture in the school, building the image of the school; giving the school a media network and setting up a media studio one day in the school. With these goals in mind, the Forum has devised such strategies as bringing out the college journal, the Zest, arranging seminars and workshops, making field trips, and observing media week in the school.

It is one of the few schools in Sri Lanka that regularly brings out a school journal. Mrs. AF Nuzha has played a significant role in mobilizing the students as MIC. Now Mrs. TMF Risana has joined the mission. School also offers Mass Communication Media Studies at the Advance Level.

Adventure Club

Late Mr. YLM Rasik, a former principal, was the pioneer of the Adventure Club at the school in the early 1990s. Then, people like MIM Ziyad and MKM Faizal on the staff relayed the baton. Currently, MHM Nawas is in charge of the Club.

Health Club

The health promotion unit of our college has been implementing many worthy tasks in order to enhance the healthy lifestyle of Students with the outbreaking of Covid 19 in the country, the need to set up a sanitarium (Sickroom) was highly felt by the administration and health promotion unit of the college, As a result, a project was proposed, and it was implemented with the support and guidance of our former principal Asheik M. M Jawad. The doctor’s Forum and the well-wishers in the school and outside extended their financial support to set up this room.
The continuous effort of the members of the Health promotion unit and the support of fellow teachers in the school have made our long-term dream come true. At last, a well-equipped and furnished sanitarium was completed within a short period of time. This project was ceremonially handed over to the principal of the college on 17th September 2021. with the presence of distinguished guests and the supportive bodies of mother Zahira. our unit has a vision of creating healthy nations and the mission of motivating students community who March toward a healthy nation through school. We are proud to acknowledge that our unit has launched many worthy projects in the school so far we were able to organize a free Thalassemia check-up with the help of the Thalassemia unit – general Hospital Kandy in 2018 similarly We conducted an eye camp for the students of Mawanella zone with thehelp of Mawanella educational office Last year a well planned dental screening test was conducted with the help of doctors Forum moreover, we have organized many awareness programs for the students and the parents of mother Zahira on non-communicable diseases. finally, our ultimate objective is to create a healthy lifestyle among the student community Hence we expect continued support and guidance from the Zahira community at larger to empower our unit towards sustainable changes
